Stafford, Etienne, LaEace testify at Indiana Health Finance Commission on Communities for a Lifetime Bill

September 8, 2010

Thanks to the efforts of State Senators Vi Simpson and Vaneta Becker, the Health Finance Commission of the General Assembly, under the leadership of Rep. Charlie Brown, agreed to hear testimony on Senate Bill 0287, Hoosier Communities for a Lifetime. Joined by Duane Etienne, President Emeritus of CICOA, and Kristen LaEace, CEO of the Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging, Phil Stafford presented an overview of the importance of this issue for Indiana's current and future elders. The bill would establish a cross-sector commission to research and report back to the General Assemblly regarding a process for designating Indiana towns and cities as "communities for a lifetime." and identifying the public and private resources necessary to support comprehensive, cross-sector planning and implementation to transform Indiana neighborhoods and communities. A copy of Dr. Stafford's testimony is provided here. His power point presentation can be viewed here.
