Pilot Communities Off and Running

March 19, 2012

Representatives from the communities of Valparaiso, Linton and Huntington met Monday, March 12 at the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority offices to sign contracts for their five month planning grants and begin the fast-paced work towards creating implementation plans to make their communities more livable for all ages. Each community will convene broad segments of stakeholders to assess assets and needs of elders and people with disabilities through online surveys, conduct story telling projects to identify and describe heart and soul elements of their towns, and prioritize potential projects in such areas as affordable housing options, improved streets and sidewalks, social connections, healthy living, etc.
