Forget “Silver Tsunami.” An aging population is not a catastrophe but an opportunity.

But we do need to get it right for the 2 billion people who will be over age 60 by the year 2050. True, as individuals we have the challenge of staying healthy, vibrant, and positive as we age. There are gazillions of personal guidebooks and way too many medications and salves to help us age well. But we age in community and designing communities for aging well is not quite on the radar. How can we design environments for our small, aging planet?

The symposium is organized by the Center on Aging and Community at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, and funded by the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, with support from Grantmakers in Aging and the Pfizer Foundation.
